Mostly wines are stored in glass bottles and are sealed using cork. Recently, a growing wine producers have been using alternative closures such as screwcaps or synthetic plastic corks. Some wines are packed in heavy plastic bags within cardboard boxes are called Boxed wines or Cask wines. Advantage of box wine is, it can stay fresh for up to a mont after opening, while bottle wine will strat to oxidize immediately.

Thanks for the post Neal, and welcome to Wally’s Community!

I am very interested in how cork “alternatives” will be accepted by the wine-loving community, especially for bottles over $50.

Apparently 10% of wines utilizing traditional cork are spoiled, which would be eliminated by screw-caps or other stoppers - but will the romance and tradition of uncorking a bottle influence the public? Can science defeat ritual? Only time will tell, of course.

I’d like to hear everyone’s views on this subject.
