Last Continuation of Re-capped & Re-corked: Employee Appreciation Night
Monday is typically a great day for me. I work by myself in the office as the other two thirds of the events group are off. A lot of work gets done, and the day flies by.
This Monday was a special Monday though; after the doors for business closed in rolled the In N Out Burger truck and the bottles were cracked for Employee Appreciation night at Wally’s. I was here for the last one too. It was great then just as it was this time. Basically, we stuff ourselves silly with burgers anyway we like ‘em and then chase every greasy good bite down with a fine glass of Burgundy or Bordeaux, and even some craft beer.
Due to the food coma I ended up in after the last employee appreciation night, I held out on the burgers for a little while, opting to schmooze and booze first. My first glass was poured for me. I had no idea what I was drinking other than I knew it was a Cab, and surprisingly, that I liked it. The wine: 2004 Philip Togni Cab. I don’t typically drink Cab, but this, I could’ve enjoyed the entire magnum to my head. Wasn’t astringent, not too tannic and had great balance. I also had a little taste (wish I’d had more!) of the 1999 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru. MMmmm. Magnifique.
Two burgers, several bags of chips and three glasses of wine down, I decided to call it a night –approximate time: eight fourty-five. Laughable I know, but there are myriad more nights of boozing in LA to be had. Won’t you join me for the next round? Check the next post for this weekend’s calendar.
